20 October 2026

Lasha Margishvili, Director of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement (NCEQE), met with Kate Ewart-Biggs, Deputy Chief Executive of the British Council.

During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Georgia and the United Kingdom in higher education quality assurance and internationalization. They paid special attention to developing a roadmap for Transnational Education (TNE) and establishing a national framework for quality assurance.

The parties also explored possibilities for strengthening institutional partnerships between Georgian and UK higher education institutions, achieving closer alignment with international standards, and expanding professional collaboration.

The meeting highlighted Georgia's participation in the international education conference Going Global 2026 and underscored the importance of creating new opportunities for collaboration within the international educational space.

The long-standing cooperation between the NCEQE and the British Council aims to contribute to the development of the higher education quality assurance system, strengthen international partnerships, and support the internationalization of Georgia's higher education system. As part of this cooperation, the Center has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).

The meeting was also attended by Christian Duncumb, Deputy Geographic Director for Europe at the British Council, and Zaza Purtseladze, Director of the British Council in Georgia.
