Workshop for Authorization Council

On 21st and 22nd of May of this year, Higher Education Quality Assurance Department of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement organized a workshop for the members of the Authorization Council of Higher Education Institutions. The purpose of the meeting was to acquaint the members of the Council with the activities implemented and planned by the Center for the development of quality assurance in higher education, as well as to analyse international experience and discuss future vision. 

During the workshop, future perspectives of higher education and development aspirations for 2030, as well as, quality assurance trends of the European Higher Education Area were discussed. Besides, the amendments to the Georgian Law on Quality Enhancement, the specificity of evaluation of internationalization (both local and international contexts) and accreditation standards assessing scholarly-research activities of the faculty, the authorization expert panel reports of 2021 and the recommendations made in the decisions of the Authorization Council were analyzed. In addition, focus was made on the performance principles of the Council, local legislative norms and regulations, and general approaches were highlighted. The development of quality assurance of doctoral educational programs and institutional accreditation standards were analysed. 
The meeting was interactive where the participants had a chance to engage themselves in the discussion concerning future trends of higher education, stakeholder interests and how these interests are to be protected, how to further refine cooperation between the Center and the Council and other timely issues.
